Ways to volunteer
The engine that runs Research Day would not be possible without the support of volunteers. The ongoing support and growth of the event is due to the overwhelming support from our Spelman College community and beyond.
1. Abstract Reviewers (Faculty/Staff Only) - We are in need of faculty and staff members to review abstracts this year. If you are a faculty, staff, administrator, postdoc, or graduate student we welcome your support.
Abstract submission round review dates: Opens Jan. 8, 2024, and ends March 12, 2024.
2. Event Day Volunteers – A variety of ways to assist with RD2024 execution activities. You can serve in more than one capacity if possible.

3. Subcommittee Member (Limited) – Assist with the ongoing planning efforts before and after Research Day. You will serve in a more involved capacity by providing ongoing support.
Engagement
- Recruit volunteers (Spelman community)
- Help organize Moderators
- Assist with the management of student volunteers
- Help organize RD Roadshow
- Community Outreach
- Assist with organizing Ambassadors
- Organize student presentation practices
- Manage presenter orientations
Registration/Hospitality
- Assist certificates, thank you gifts, and presenter awards
- Assist with the swag distribution plan
- Assist with the registration process (collaborate with the database team
- Collaborate with logistics for event registration setup
- Assist with the management of the information booth/locations
- Collaborate with the engagement team to manage greeters
Marketing - The marketing team ideates, creates, and designs the physical and electronic visuals needed to promote Research Day.
- Website updates
- Signage (banners, yard signs, retractable, banners)
- Social Media (IG, LinkedIn)
